The purpose of a business

It has been a while since our last post, but the reason is a good one – for us anyway. We have been flat out. And it is largely due to one customer.

eMarketer, Shiv Singh said: “The purpose of a business is to create a customer who creates customers.” This is so true and we are pleased to be able to say that we have achieved this.

Recently Pertrain entered the Sunshine Coast Business Awards. While we did not win, we were finalists, the entry process helped us to formalise our policies and customer service standards and to focus on our successes over the past 12 months.

One of the entry questions related to how we advertise. Our answer was – we don’t. We rely on word of mouth recommendations from our clients. To prove the value of this approach we created one of those ‘cloud-type’ graphics starting with one client and drawing other clouds to represent the other clients he introduced us to and the value of the work we did. This main cloud, directly and indirectly, created over $750,000 in revenue for us – not bad for a small, family owned business.

There are some great quotes relating to customer service, and each one of them is true and inspiring.
The customer’s perception is your reality. ~ Kate Zabriskie
He profits most who serves best. ~ Arthur F. Sheldon
Being on par in terms of price and quality only gets you into the game. Service wins the game. ~ Tony Allesandra
Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning. ~ Bill Gates
As Andrew Paul says: “No marketing force a company could ever hope to exert is more powerful than the collective will of its customers — and if they’ve been treated better than they expected, they’ll communicate that far more effectively than any ad buy in any medium.”

So thank you to all our customers for letting us help to make your workplace a safer and more efficient place to work. Please let us continue to be part of your business and please continue to be an important part of ours.
