JSEA/JSA books

A Job Safety and Environmental Analysis (JSEA), also known as a Job Step Analysis (JSA), is used to identify hazards and their controls and communicate these to the work group.  A JSEA is conducted for all non-routine tasks. 

An effective JSEA involves the following five actions.

1. Break the job down into its basic steps.
2. Identify the hazards associated with each step.
3. Identify controls to eliminate or control those hazards.
4. Put the controls in place and check to see if they haven’t added new hazards.
5. Proceed with the job and monitor the controls while you work.
