JSEA/JSA books

A Job Safety and Environmental Analysis (JSEA), also known as a Job Step Analysis (JSA), is used to identify hazards and their controls and communicate these to the work group.  A JSEA is conducted for all non-routine tasks. 

An effective JSEA involves the following five actions.

1. Select a job to be assessed.
2. Break the job down into its basic steps.
3. Identify the hazards associated with each step.
4. Identify controls to eliminate or control the hazards identified for each step.
5. Perform the job, remembering to apply safety controls and precautions as you proceed.
